Los Angeles is the city to be from, if you’re a big online sports wagering fan. Not only are the Lakers in the playoffs but the Dodgers are on a nice three game winning streak. They are about to start a series with the Chicago Cubs tonight at 8:05 PM EST. SBG Global reports that the early MLB betting action sees the public taking the Dodgers on the road as a +113 underdog with a 9 over +100.

Here is a quick review of the MLB wagering stats for Thursday’s game. The Los Angeles Dodgers (33-15) are 6-2 in their last 8 games vs. a right-handed starter. The Dodgers are 4-1 in Wolf’s last 5 starts. The Dodgers are 5-1 in the last 6 meetings between the two teams. The Chicago Cubs (23-22) are 17-8 in their last 25 games vs. a left-handed starter. The Over is 4-1-1 in the Dodgers last 6 road games. The Under is 6-2 in the Cubs last 8 overall. The Over is 7-3-1 in the Cubs last 11 games vs. a left-handed starter.

The Dodgers have the best record in baseball and haven’t missed a beat, even without Manny Ramirez in the lineup. Juan Pierre has taken Ramirez’s place and the Dodgers are scoring even more runs. Pierre is hitting .410 since taking over in left field. "He’s shown us so much more production and so much more pop," manager Joe Torre said, "He was certainly ready for this when it presented itself."

The Dodgers are very happy that Pierre has gotten the chance to play. "The thing you really respect about him more than anything is his work ethic. He’s a good team person. Last year, I asked him to help with the younger players, and knowing that Matt Kemp was playing his position didn’t keep him from going over and trying to help this young man. I think everybody’s happy for him right now." Torre said.

The Cubs seemed to have righted the ship after losing eight straight as they won the last two games in their series against Pittsburgh. The Cubs made a number of moves on Wednesday, one of which paid off immediately. They called up Jake Fox, who was leading the Pacific Coast League in hitting and they also called up left-handed reliever Jason Waddell and infielder Andres Blanco on Wednesday as they sent Neal Cotts and Bobby Scales to Triple-A Iowa. Fox immediately came in on Wednesday and delivered a pinch hit RBI single. "He gives us a good bat coming off the bench, a power bat," Cubs manager Lou Piniella said. "We haven’t had that. This gives us more firepower."

The Dodgers send Randy Wolf to the mound on Thursday. He is 2-1 with a 3.02 ERA this season. He is tied for the Major League lead with seven no-decisions this season.

Randy Wells gets the call for Chicago. He is 0-1 with a 1.50 ERA this season. Wells has done well in the rotation taking the place of Carlos Zambrano and now Rich Harden.
