cardinals vs steelers wageringThe Arizona Cardinals travel to Pittsburgh on Thursday for what is a Super Bowl rematch although it really isn’t. Neither team is expected to play their starters long so revenge is not a motive in this preseason game that can be seen on ESPN television. "Most of the guys that played a lot in that game probably won’t play much at all in this game," Arizona quarterback Kurt Warner said, "That’s more for league hype than it is anything else. It doesn’t really matter until the real season kicks off." Pittsburgh is a 3 point favorite with a total of 33 at SBG Global Sportsbook. Watch all the NFL preseason wagering action live tonight on ESPN at 8:00 PM EST!

The Steelers are expected to play their starters only a series or two and Arizona isn’t going to do much more. That means Warner might get one or two series while Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers starters won’t see much time either.

Neither the Steelers nor the Cardinals are game planning for this first preseason game. It is just about seeing young players. "It’s just another game," Pittsburgh’s Deshea Townsend said, "The Super Bowl wagering lines are gone and we won it, so we really don’t care about the rematch."

This game on Thursday will come down to a battle of the backups. Arizona will have Matt Leinart and Brian St. Pierre seeing a lot playing time at quarterback while Pittsburgh really wants to look at quarterback Dennis Dixon in the preseason. They already know backup Charlie Batch can do the job.

The Steelers have some injuries on the offensive line as center Justin Hartwig (toe) and right guard Darnell Stapleton will not play. Former rookie free agent Doug Legursky is expected to start. For the Cardinals they are not expected to have first-round pick Beanie Wells in the lineup as he has an ankle injury.

The Cardinals and Steelers have met twice in the NFL wagering preseason in the past and the Cardinals won both times. This is the first time they have played at Heinz Field in the preseason. Three years ago the Cardinals won at home in the preseason over the Steelers by a score of 21-13.

2009 Kansas City Chiefs NFL Wagering Lines Preview

Matt CasselThere is really nowhere to go but up for the 2009 Kansas City Chiefs. They are coming off a miserable 2-14 season in which they were not very competitive even in the weak AFC West. The good news for the Chiefs is that extreme improvement is possible in 2009, especially now that they have Matt Cassel at quarterback. The Kansas City Chiefs are considered a real 55-1 Super Bowl wagering lines long-shot at sportsbook giant, SBGGlobal.com.

The Chiefs made a lot of off-season moves including in the front office where general manager Carl Peterson and head coach Herm Edwards are gone. Kansas City also gave away tight end Tony Gonzalez to Atlanta but that was one of their only bad moves in the off-season. Scott Pioli takes over as the main man in Kansas City and he has already put his stamp on this team. He got Cassel from New England and also brought in Mike Vrabel as well. He hired Todd Haley as the head coach and added veterans like Zach Thomas and Bobby Engram.

Kansas City’s offense is going to be better with Cassel running the show. He had a great 2008 season and was one of the biggest surprises in the NFL Wagering. The Chiefs have an excellent wide receiver in Dwayne Bowe but then it gets a little iffy. Losing Gonzalez hurts but the Chiefs weren’t winning with him anyway and his value was overrated. Kansas City still has Larry Johnson to run the ball and he could be primed for a bounce back season in 2009.

Kansas City had a young secondary last year that should be better this year with another year of experience. Brandon Flowers, Brandon Carr and Maurice Leggett are joined by Donald Washington who the Chiefs took in the Draft. Kansas City also got defensive lineman Tyson Jackson with the third overall pick so the pass rush should be improved as Jackson teams up with former teammate Glenn Dorsey.

Kansas City is definitely the most improved team in the AFC West this season. Whether they are improved enough to make the playoffs is the question but they can definitely hold their own against Denver and Oakland. Going toe to toe with San Diego might be difficult. Keep in mind that San Diego won this division with an 8-8 record last year and the Chiefs could be capable of playing .500 ball in 2009.
