tom bradyNFL Playoffs Ravens vs Patriots Wagering Lines

The college football season concluded on Thursday night but never fear football fans, there is still pigskin to wager on. The NFL playoffs wagering begin this weekend with the New York Jets vs Cincinnati Bengals and the Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday, followed by the Baltimore Ravens at the New England Patriots and Green Bay Packers and Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.

With QB Tom Brady, the NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year, behind center, the Patriots are always a threat to win the Super Bowl — New England is currently listed at +900 wagering lines to win it all. However, New England’s passing game took a big hit in its final game of the regular season when WR Wes Welker suffered a season-ending knee injury.

While Welker doesn’t possess the talent of a Randy Moss, he led the entire league with 123 receptions and was second with 1348 receiving yards. As well, having Welker in the lineup kept opposing secondaries honest as they had to focus on both Moss and Welker.

All isn’t doom and gloom though as New England will welcome back defensive linemen Vince Wilfork and Ty Warren. The Patriots are 3-point wagering lines home faves for Sunday’s game against Baltimore and the Total is set at 43.

Tried, tested and true late in the season, New England is 13-2 straight up in its last 15 home games in January and is 9-5-1 against the spread. As well, the Pats’ last 13 January home games have resulted in 11 Unders and a pair of Overs.

New England has owned the Ravens ever since the team relocated to Baltimore from Cleveland, going 3-0 SU and ATS at home and in five meetings overall, the Pats are 5-0 SU and 4-1 ATS.

Online sportsbooks saw the early money come in on the Ravens, pushing the wagering line down to -3. Heading into the weekend Baltimore had 56% of all the volume bet at SPORTSBETTING.com.

Monday Night Football Wagering Patriots vs Saints Lines

randy moss wes welkerThe two best offenses in the NFL wagering should put on a show on Monday night as the unbeaten New Orleans Saints host the New England Patriots live at 8:30pm ET on ESPN. The Saints lead the league in total yards at 420.5 per game and in points per game at 36.9. The Patriots are second in yards per game at 416.1 yards. The Saints are on the same pace that the Patriots were on two years ago when they went unbeaten during the regular season. Quarterback Drew Brees leads a wide open offense that is tough to stop. New Orleans is a 1.5 point wagering lines favorite with a total of 56.5 at SBG Global.

New Orleans figures to get tested on Monday by a New England offense that set the standard in excellence. With quarterback Tom Brady and receivers Randy Moss and Wes Welker, the Patriots set the NFL wagering record for most points scored in a season two years ago. It will be up to the Saints defense to contain Brady and his receivers. The Saints rank #1 in the league in takeaways and interceptions so they have a chance to slow down Brady. Safety Darren Sharper leads the league in interception return yards.

On the other side of the ball it seems unlikely that New England can stop Brees and the New Orleans offense. The Saints have a number of weapons on offense and actually have a higher ranking rushing the ball than throwing it. The Saints are 5th in the league in rushing and 6th in passing. The Patriots are only 14th in the NFL against the run but they are 6th against the pass.

New England has won 8 of the 11 all-time meetings against New Orleans with the last victory coming by a score of 24-17 in 2005. Here are more NFL wagering lines stats for Monday’s game. The Patriots are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Patriots are 5-2-1 ATS in their last 8 games as a road underdog.

The Saints are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games in Week 12. The Saints are 12-4-1 ATS in their last 17 games overall. The Saints are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games as a home favorite. The Over is 11-5 in the Patriots last 16 games as a road underdog. The Over is 4-0 in the Saints last 4 Monday games. The Over is 12-3-1 in the Saints last 16 games as a home favorite. The Over is 21-9-1 in the Saints last 31 games overall.

NFL Wagering Lines: Experts say Patriots unstoppable with Brady

Tom BradyNow that Tom Brady is back as the starting quarterback for the New England Patriots, the NFL wagering lines from the oddsmakers, expect the New England Patriots to dominate this season. Wager right now at Sportsbook.com on the Patriots NFL week 1 home opener against the Buffalo Bills, the Conference championship and the Super Bowl futures lines.

As expected, the oddsmakers positioned New England as the heavy favorite in all the NFL future wagering lines available. With Tom Brady back on the field, the expectations continue to rise for the three-time Super Bowl Champions. New England is a 10-point favorite in the week 1 Monday Night Football opener against the Buffalo Bills, a -400 favorite to win the AFC East Division, a +180 favorite to win the AFC Championship and a +350 favorite to capture the teams fourth Super Bowl since 2000.

Not only are the Patriots the leader to win division, AFC and Super Bowl, but oddsmakers have set their Regular Season Win Total at Over/Under 11.5 games. That’s the highest Win Total of all 32 teams with the defending champion Pittsburgh Steelers the only other team getting a double digit win total at Over/Under 10.5 victories. “New England is a team that won nine games last year without their MVP Quarterback and went 16-0 with him the previous regular season,” said Sportsbook.com spokesman, Dave Staley. “They do have the third toughest strength of schedule for the upcoming year but if Brady’s healthy, that shouldn’t be a problem.”

Brady performed in front of the media for the first time on the third of New England’s four Organized Team Activities and although not practicing at full speed, the media circus was there to document every move. The two-time Super Bowl MVP and 2007 NFL MVP, Brady has been the focus of the offseason but bettors would be wise to remember that coach Bill Belichick has spent the offseason re-tooling a slow, aging defense that had trouble getting off the field on third downs last year.

The most notable additions to the team are in the secondary that gave up numerous big plays last year. Cornerbacks Leigh Bodden and Shawn Springs were signed as free agents with safety Patrick Chung and cornerback Darius Butler added early in the draft. These players join 2008 draft picks Terrence Wheatley and Jonathan Wilhite, two players that played well when given time last year. “You take all the new additions and factor in that they have last year’s defensive Rookie of the Year, Jerod Mayo back for his second season, and this defense is going to be improved,” said Staley. “Plus, Adalius Thomas is coming back from injury and you have big nose tackle Vince Wilfork in a contract year. They are going to be a tough unit to play this season.”
