If you want to see some starters on Friday in NFL preseason sports wagering action you won’t want to watch the Cowboys and Vikings because very few of them are going to play. Minnesota head coach Brad Childress has said he is not playing his starters on Friday while Dallas head coach Wade Phillips doesn’t plan to play many either. That means it is Tarvaris Jackson, Sage Rosenfels and John David Booty for the Vikings at quarterback while Rudy Carpenter gets the time for the Cowboys. Watch the Cowboys vs Vikings NFL Wagering Lines live at 8:00 PM EST, broadcasted on the NFL Network. Minnesota is a 3-point favorite with a total of 36 at SBG Global Sportsbook.
The Vikings are unbeaten in the preseason and quarterback Brett Favre looked good last week. Although he could use the work, Favre and the rest of the starters won’t play on Friday. "I don’t see the upside," Childress said "I thought he made a nice jump from Week 1 to Week 2 and showed he’s got a good understanding of what we’re doing." The Vikings start the NFL wagering regular season on September 13th in Cleveland. "We’re at a pretty good spot right now, but he’s only been here two weeks," Vikings wide receiver Sidney Rice said, "We still have a lot of things we can work on together. We’re going to continue to work on those things together."
On the other side of the ball the Cowboys are giving Rudy Carpenter a look. He was the quarterback for Arizona State but has not gotten any time in the NFL wagering lines preseason with the Cowboys. He got one snap and ran out the clock against Tennessee. He is the fourth quarterback on the squad behind Tony Romo, Jon Kitna and fourth round pick Stephen McGee. Romo and Kitna probably won’t play at all so it should be all Carpenter on Friday since McGee is out with an injury. The game is a showcase for Carpenter as he hopes to land with another team. "I think I’ve had a good camp to be honest with you," the rookie said. "I’ve done well throughout OTAs and mini-camp and now training camp. I just haven’t had an opportunity to play. But I’ll get one this week."
The Vikings have won five of the ten all-time preseason meetings with Dallas with one tie. Last year the Cowboys won 16-10 over the Vikings in preseason action.

The spotlight will be on Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings as they are at the Houston Texans in preseason action on Monday in an ESPN televised game at 8:00 PM EST. This will be the first time the Vikings and Texans have ever met in the preseason although they have met twice in the regular season with Minnesota winning both games. They will get a big test on Monday against a potent Houston offense led by quarterback Matt Schaub and wide receiver Andre Johnson. The Houston starters are expected to play three quarters on Monday. "They’re going out there for three quarters and if you’re a starter, you better play like one because there is some good competition going on," Houston head coach Gary Kubiak said. "You’ll see some new faces playing with the starters this week and we’ll see how we come out of it." Kubiak has said that winning on Monday is important. "Well, we want to win every time we go out. It doesn’t matter whether it is a preseason game or regular season game. That’s our goal. If you’re doing it for any other reason, you’re making mistakes—but it’s important. It’s time to play. It’s important. Our starters are playing three quarters against their starters and they’ve got a fine, fine football team. We know that. So it’s very important."
While the Minnesota defense has been great it is the Vikings offense that will get the attention on Monday. Brett Favre and the first string offense is expected to play at least a half. Reports have surfaced that some Minnesota players are not fully in support of Favre but star running back Adrian Peterson is not one of them. “There’s just a love I have for him and how he plays the game,” Peterson said. “`I play the game the same way.” Peterson is thrilled to have Favre at quarterback since it should open things up for him even more. In fact, Peterson and Favre will help each other this NFL Wagering Lines season. "You got Adrian Peterson, who is the most dynamic running back in football, who is going to rush for as many yards as he wants to,” Favre said “But, you know, sometimes you have to pass."
